Every picture tells a story. Here is the story behind this one. Our neighbor Floyd is a Vietnam Veteran. After coming home from the war, he drove a CTA bus for 20 years and retired with full benefits. But Floyd, not one to sit around, took the Sheriff’s Deputy Exam and passed with flying colors. He went on to a distinguished second career as a Cook County Sheriff’s Deputy, eventually being promoted to sergeant. His final assignment was commanding a crew of deputies serving court summons and subpoenas. On one of these operations, a driver fleeing local police, not noticing Floyd and his crew, bailed out of the vehicle right in front of them. They quickly apprehended the suspect and held him for the pursuing officers.
Floyd is now enjoying his second retirement, but before it was official, he came to us for a portrait in his full dress uniform. Here’s to you, Sergeant.
